ArtCall for the 2024 Annual Juried Exhibition Opens Soon

By Annual Juried Exhibition, ArtCall

Greetings IWS Members!

ArtCall opens for the 2024 Annual Juried Exhibition https://iws2024annualjuriedexhibition.artcall.org/ on February 9, 2024.

Click on the link and it will take you to the site.  (You will not be able to go further into the site until it opens Feb. 9.)  You might want to save the link for easy access.

ArtCall entries must be submitted by Wednesday, March 27, 9:00 PM MST, so you have a full 6 ½ weeks to enter your work.

Please review the prospectus online or download the email attachment and keep it handy for review.

Remember, you must be a current member of the IWS to participate in the exhibition.  If you are unsure of your status, please contact Lynn McConnell mcconnell1106@gmail.com to be sure your dues are up-to-date.

This year we are exhibiting at the Riverside Hotel in Boise for the Treasure Valley portion of the show, and we have a full two months for our exhibit.

We are able to accept up to two paintings from each artist, and there is a new twist this year:

  • You can send your painting for display EVEN IF IT IS NOT PART OF THE JURIED EXHIBIT.  This is because we have space for up to 150 paintings in the lobby/first floor area of the hotel.  We are inviting you to send in your painting regardless of juried status.  This gives you the ability to show and sell your work even if it’s not part of the exhibit proper.

This is a brand-new opportunity for us, as we previously had no room for any but accepted paintings.  This is how it will look on the floor:

  • Paintings not accepted into the juried exhibition will hang with/near the accepted paintings, but with just your name, title, and asking price on the wall label.
  • Accepted juried exhibit paintings will have a blue dot added to the wall label, and identified as being accepted into the juried portion of the exhibition.
  • The paintings juried into the travel show will have a second dot on the label indicating its special status.

Keep in mind you are still responsible for shipping in each direction.  If your painting is not juried into the exhibition, you can still send it in for display and possible sale.  Woohoo!  If it is not sold, it will be returned to you at the close of the exhibition shortly after June 28, 2024.  None of the other venues have room for this many works.

We will provide you with more specific shipping information after the ArtCall closing date.

If your painting(s) aren’t completed, get busy!  We are looking forward to seeing your work in Boise at the Riverside.

Best of luck, and feel free to contact me directly with any questions,

Scott

Results of Voting – Sharing Members’ Emails with Sponsors

By All IWS Info

Greetings IWS Membership:

The results of the email sharing survey are in, with 112 of you having registered your opinions, enough for us to make a call.

There were 84 solid “yes, share my email”, with two having conditions we couldn’t guarantee, so I counted those two as “no”.  This was as regards the selling of your address.  You can opt in to this list if you choose, you know who you are.

The following is the only change that we will make:

  • We will create a vendor/donor email list containing all the email addresses of those who voted YES, and it will contain the email addresses of those who did not respond.  Silence is agreement.  Email addresses on this list will be shared (and, only as requested) with our award donors/vendors.  You can opt out of these emails directly with the sender, or revise your opinion with us and we’ll take you off the list.

We will keep separately the INTERNAL ONLY mailing list that is used by Renee Galligher and Karyn deKramer.  The email addresses on this list that voted “no” will not be shared with our donors.

If you would like to see the results of the survey, please let me know and I’ll send it to you.

Thank you all very much for your participation!

VineArts Community Art Show: Call for Entries

“SEASONS”

VineArts invites creatives of all ages & skill levels in the community to submit creative work about seasons – literal or metaphorical. It could be a beautiful photograph of the Sawtooths in the fall or a tree blossoming in spring. Maybe it’s a painted portrait of an elderly woman in the “winter” of her life. Or maybe you want to explore the spiritual seasons you’ve been through using pottery, quilting, poetry or a short story. Whatever “seasons” brings to mind, we’d love to see it!

IMPORTANT DATES

Entry Drop-off: MARCH 10-13, 2024

Opening Reception: SUNDAY, MARCH 17 @ 11:30AM

The Arizona Watercolor Association has announced the artists and artworks chosen for inclusion in the 49th Annual WFWS Exhibition. The nine IWS artists and their selected works are:

Linda Aman – The Space Between

Jessica Bryant – Afternoon Calm at Yellow Dog
Gail Greco – Yellowstone Winter
Joyce Green – Bristlecone Pine Grove
Karen Hickman – End of a Long Day
Rachel Lindquist – Winter Citrus, Lemons
Torgesen Murdock – Last Light
Ying Peng – A Western Passion

Cali Ward – Lone Rider

Please join me in congratulating these artists for their excellent work! My personal thank you to all of the 35 IWS members that entered, even if their work was not chosen. Note some emails from ArtCall did not go through and AWA is working on the issue.
