SW Members Exhibits and Workshops/Classes for August
Exhibits:
Shelly Johnson has been invited to participate in the 2025 National Watercolor Exhibition at Mark Arts. “Happiness on a Tire Swing” will be on view at the Gladys and Karl T. Wiedemann Gallery at Mark Arts in Wichita, Kansas, from August 1, 2025 to September 27, 2025. Opening Reception is Friday, August 1 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with remarks and award announcement by juror Paul Jackson.

Gary Mccall – The Visual Arts Collective is showing my art, watercolor and acrylic paintings. Theme type show featuring Garden City. First Friday August 1st. Reception 5pm to 11.

Mary Gardiner – City of Kuna Arts and History (a little house) will be showing The Artist Lens for August and September by Mary Gardiner. Also in August, Mary’s work will be shown at St Luke’s hospital, Boise. Mary and Gary have a joint show at the TVAA Gallery at the Gem Center for the Arts, Boise. Come see the American Connection exhibit.

Priscilla Patterson – Idaho Watercolor Society Member Priscilla Patterson will have new work included in the Jacklin Arts & Cultural Center “Global Tapestry” exhibition in Post Falls, Idaho. The exhibit, which features works showing different cultures, locations and perspectives, will run from September 5-October 25, 2025.

Joyce Green recently received notice that she is to be awarded the honorary title Master Signature Member by exhibiting in ten or more annual exhibitions of the Watercolor West organization. She will be exhibiting in the 57th International Exhibition opening August 23rd. The award will be presented at a ceremony on September 6th at the Hilbert Museum at Chapman University in Orange, Ca.
Jaialdi, the International Basque Festival is just around the corner: Joyce Green will have a booth at this year’s festival at the Western Idaho Fairgrounds main exhibition building on Saturday, August 2nd, 10-6 and Sunday August 3rd from 11-5 pm. She will show Basque related art for sale in booth # 308. It’s a grand party!
Meanwhile, Joyce has three works on display at the Initial Point Gallery for the “Dusty Chaps and Cowboy Hats” exhibit through August 1, and three works at the Boise Open Studios Basque Exhibit at the Idaho State Archives Building, 2205 Old Penitentiary Road in Boise. The Opening is Thursday July 17th from 5-7 p.m. The dancers will perform!

Franki Sims – Fun flowers, beautiful butterflies, and fancy feathers featured in a myriad of my new watercolor paintings are finding their way into exhibits I’m installing across the treasure valley this summer. Please come check out one or all. Installations are going up at frankie sims art / Heart in Art Studio Gallery in Garden City (google maps), Catalyst Arts Collaborative in Boise, and in the front display cases at the Nampa Civic Center with the TVAA show “Inclusive”. My “garden” at the Boise Co-Op in Meridian will be blooming in mid September, on hold for newly announced facility renovations. Workshops/ Classes:
Linda Aman – Online Masters Watercolor Lessons with Zoom Tuesdays (usually every other week) Similar to us in person “open paint” sessions, you can share what you are currently creating. Just email a painting in progress to Linda the day before class. Artists are learning from all the critiques and each artist’s paintings. Wide variety of art. You will have instruction, personal critique, and paint time during class. Tuesday August 12th and 26th . Price $30 per class. Linda Aman – Two Day Abstract Workshop – “Approaching Abstracts-Watercolor and Mixed Media”. The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, 300 S Capital Ave. Idaho Falls, ID Friday and Saturday August 1st – August 2nd 9am-4pm
Linda Aman will present a two-day hands-on exploration of abstraction. Participants will learn to “play with purpose” using watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media.
