Monday, July 6 , 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

What: Monthly in-person critique

Where:  Eagle Hills Church, but in the upstairs community room (to the left as you enter the double doors), park in the upper lot—this change may last for several months as it has to do with limiting access to the school area downstairs

Having trouble with a painting?…bring it.

Have a successful painting?…We’d like to see it and cheer!

No painting to bring…Come anyway…..

…it’s all FUN, FRIENDLY and HELPFUL !

“Get that old stuff out from under your bed or off your easel and bring it in for discussion, we’re all friends and there’s no crying in watercolors!”

THANKS to Shelly Johnson!

By All IWS Info

Hello IWS Members:

I’d like to recognize and thank Shelly Johnson for her outstanding work in securing funding for our organization from Arts Idaho through our state legislature.

Thanks to her efforts (and believe me grant writing is a big work), she has secured over $3,500 in grants for IWS. This is a tremendous undertaking in helping us pay for things like the travel show (a big expense), the Capitol Rotunda show, and the outreach events our members (Gail Greco and Larry Boyd to name a few) hold to benefit under-served communities in our fine state.

So, a big THANK YOU to Shelly for working to obtain these dollars for our society and helping assure we can continue to be a viable, visible, and meaningful organization.

Also, if any of you have skills or the desire to assist Shelly in her work to find money to support IWS, I’m sure she’d love to hear from you.

FY2027 Idaho Commission on the Arts Entry Track Grant

By All IWS Info

The Idaho Watercolor Society is pleased to report that their Idaho Commission on the Arts Entry Track Grant application has been approved for fiscal year 2027 in the amount of $3,512. This award recognizes artistic excellence and commitment to strengthening the cultural life of Idaho. Approval for the Entry Track Grant is a prerequisite for Public Programs in the Arts annual funding.

This grant is made possible by the Idaho State Legislature and funds from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Idaho Legislature has consistently demonstrated its support for Idahoans’ access to the arts, as does Congress through its support for the Endowment.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!

2026 Annual Meeting Lodging

By All IWS Info
Hello IWS Membership:
For those of you interested in spending the night in Twin Falls for our Annual Meeting (September 18-19), I have done a little research and have found the following:
Three hotels, Quality Inn and Suites, SureStay by Best Western, and My Place Hotel Twin Falls, all have rates in the $130-$150 range. Most of the others I looked at such as Marriott and Hilton were in the $200 per night range. I hope this helps you with your decision-making.
Thanks very much,

Expose Homeschoolers to Watercolor Painting

By All IWS Info, Region - Southwest

Hello,

I facilitate the homeschoolers group at the Kuna library. Once a month we invite different organizations/businesses to teach our group about their field of work and if possible, do a hands-on activity together. We would like to invite the Idaho Watercolor Society to be our guest this coming fall. We usually have about 50 people. Parents attend and assist their children, primarily ages 5-12.

Contact Heather if you are interested.
