SW Members Exhibits and Workshops/Classes for December

Exhibits:

Gary Mccall – Retrospective at the Riverside. TVAA continues at the Gem Center. Christmas decorations auction at Capitol Contemporary Gallery, to support the Camp Rainbow.

Carrie Cornils – Seven pieces will be displayed upstairs at the Riverside Waters Edge Gallery for November and December. The opening reception is Friday December 5, 2025 at 5:30 – 7:30.

Ongoing class for silk scarves and glass ball ornaments available by request for one person or small groups up to three. Call or text Carrie 208-870-8788.

Mary Gardiner -donation fine art holiday ornament to benefit Camp Rainbow Gold First Thursday December 4 5-9 pm downtown Boise at Capitol Contemporary Gallery. Also, Riverside Hotel retrospective exhibit, TVAA Purple at Initial Point, and the Gem Center for the Arts Viv-ID exhibit continues. So many fun, free activities for everyone.

Connie Pepper currently has work on display at the Meridian and Boise locations of Idaho Art Gallery.  The works include prints on cards and bamboo blocks.   Single greeting cards called  “Dictionary Pages”  have gouache paintings of flowers on dictionary pages naming the artwork.  A second artwork option at the Galleries include unique flower or animal art print on bamboo blocks.  The solid 5” x 5”  blocks can be easily displayed on the wall, or stand on a table or desk.

Susan Kluksdal will be the featured artist at Eagle City Hall for the month of December.  The building is open during business hours, 9:00 to 5:00 weekdays.  Please stop by and see what I have been painting!

Anne Watson Sorensen is delighted to return as the featured artist at Boise’s St. Luke’s Gallery Wall –  Dec 3 – Jan 1.  The show will move to the Meridian St Luke’s Gallery Wall Jan 2-Jan 31.

Linda Aman – In Person Watercolor Classes– Star, Idaho. Come join us, learn the creative use of watercolor, and strengthen your paintings. Bring a painting you are working on, or Linda can provide a project. Materials are available for use in class, and you are welcome to bring your own. All levels welcome. Date: Monday December 8th, and December 15th 1:00pm-4:00pm. Price $35 per class.  Email for address in Star, Idaho. To sign up  Email linda@amanarts.com 

Master Art Classes Online Live – Linda Aman – Lessons on Zoom Tuesdays (usually every other week) Similar to in person “open paint” sessions, where you can share what you are currently creating. Email a painting in progress to Linda the day before class. You will have instruction and paint time during class. Artists learn from a wide variety of art. All the critiques and suggestions from each artist’s paintings will increase your knowledge. Tuesdays December 9^th and 16th   Price $30 per class. Times 9:00am-12:00pm or 6:00pm-9:00 (MST)   Email to register linda@amanarts.com   These are Master Level Classes on Zoom. Contact me for more information. Mary Gardiner will have two paintings in the Viv-ID exhibit at the Gem Center for the Arts, 2417 Bank Drive, Boise, (reception announcement forthcoming) and two paintings in the PAPI exhibit at the Riverside Hotel.

Scott Muscolo -In case you missed the debut of “Large Men with Small Brushes” at the Initial Point Gallery in Meridian, do not despair! You will be able to view a slightly larger exhibit from this same motley crew at the Riverside Hotel’s Water’s Edge Gallery from November 4 to December 1.   Big time art by large men!  Please come and tell your friends!

Sue Johnston is happy to announce that her paintings, Abandoned and Ruby Mountains have been selected to show in the Friedman Memorial Airport winter exhibition in Hailey, Idaho. The opening reception is Nov 19, 5:00-7:00

Anne Watson Sorensen was thrilled to have her painting “It Takes a Village 1” be awarded the Best Watercolor at the Eagle Plein Air event in October. She is also grateful to all those who attended her October BOSCO Open Studio.  She invites everyone to attend the PAPI show at the Riverside Hotel’s River’s Edge Gallery opening on November 7th.

Gloria Miller Allen and Linda Aman Art Exhibit

Gloria Miller Allen and Linda Aman presented their joint exhibit “Make Your Mark” at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls. The show was a great success, highlighted by a special evening event where Gloria and Linda completed a live demonstration. The artwork they finished that night was a collaborative piece, created with contributions from nearly everyone who attended the exhibit.

Anne Watson Sorensen invites you to her annual Open Studio & BOSCO event.  This year it will be a “Collector’s Special Event” as Anne needs help clearing her walls to prepare for large scale explorations and new artwork.  If you have been wanting an Anne original, this is a great opportunity! Anne Watson Sorensen was pleased to be invited and juried into the Zion’s Bank Art Show held 9/18/25.  She also has artwork at the Sun Valley Hailey airport until November.  She is grateful to all who stopped by her Art in the Park booth!  Thank you!

Sherrie Gregory’s watercolor painting (Lake Martin, LA) has been accepted into the Northwest Watercolor Society’s 85th Annual International Open Exhibition, to be held November 8 – December 1, 2025, at the Yuan Ru Art Center, in Bellevue, WA.  Paintings were submitted by artists from 12 different countries.

Sue Johnston is pleased to be accepted into San Diego Watercolor Society International Exhibition opening October 1 and Watercolor West Also opening October 1, 2025.

Jessica L Bryant has work in several exhibits this month. Watercolor USA runs August 23 – October 11 at the Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, MO.The 112th Annual Exhibition of the Allied Artists of America invitational exhibit at the Reading Museum (Reading, PA) is on display September 13, 2025 – January 11, 2026. Jessica had two paintings accepted into the Richeson75 International Art Competition for Landscape, Seascape, and Architecture. The exhibit is available to view online.

LAUREN JOHNSON will be participating again this year in the BOISE OPEN STUDIOS  tour (boiseopenstudios.com) on the second weekend of the tour, October 11 and 12, Sat and Sun from 10-6 pm.  If you go to their website and choose the weekend you are interested in you can get maps, artist examples, directions, etc.  If you just want to talk to a live person for info or directions, just call or text  me at 208-215-1588 or email laurenjohnsonartist.com.  I’d love to have you drop by and say hello.

Joyce Green will have her studio open for the BOSCO ( Boise Open Studios) event, Saturday October 11th  and Sunday October 12th from 10-6.  Her most recent works will be on view and here’s your chance to see how she works and ask questions.  The BOSCO web site has a map and address, but you can also find it in our IWS directory.  ” I am a bit on the western side of the map but easy to find.  See you then!”

Karyn deKramer – Thrilled to have my painting ‘Sun-baked Ribs – Bald Eagle’ juried into the Artists for Conservation online exhibit and accompanying printed AFC Nature Book for 2025. The exhibit/book features artworks inspired by wildlife and nature created by 177 AFC artists from 16 countries. The virtual exhibit for 2025 goes online Sept 26  https://www.artistsforconservation.org/virtual-exhibit
