Less than Three Weeks to enter WFWS51!

By All IWS Info

The Colorado Watercolor Society is hosting the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies 51st Exhibition at the Curtis Center for the Arts in Greenwood Village, Colorado from May 8, 2026 to June 27, 2026. The show juror is Xi Guo. (https://www.xiguopainting.com/) This show is open to watermedia artists who are members of one of the WFWS Component Societies, including IWS. Your IWS annual dues for 2026 must be paid by the WFWS entry deadline, which is February 1, 2026, or your entry will be disqualified.

Please read the WFWS51 prospectus carefully. You can find the prospectus on the Colorado Watercolor Society’s WFWS webpage (https://coloradowatercolorsociety.org/western-federation-of-watercolor-societies) by clicking the yellow “download prospectus” button. Remember that for WFWS, if your painting is accepted, you will be responsible for matting, but not framing. Your mat must be at least 3 inches on all sides and the outside measurement must be one of the specified sizes. Please call or email me if you need help with the math.

Please call or email me (do not call the Colorado Watercolor Society or ArtCall!) if you have any questions about entering or issues with ArtCall.

Good luck!

IWS 50-year Anniversary Celebration + Needed Volunteers

By All IWS Info

IWS is hosting a 50-year Anniversary Celebration honoring IWS, the members, the founders, the history, and the volunteers and donors that made it possible. Sunday, June 7, 2026 we are having a Reception for IWS members, invited guests, and past supporters of IWS at the Riverside Hotel from 4-6pm.  Additionally, we will publish a book celebrating our 50 years.  The book will be available for purchase.

Joyce Green, Pam Grant, and Nancy Inaba have been working hard all year putting together the sources, materials and contacts for the celebration. They need your skills to put the final phase of this milestone celebration together. They need volunteers who can contribute with writing, editing, public relations, those who have experience publishing a book, those who can assist with the logistics for the show, shipping, registration at the reception, design and graphics of printed materials, and other jobs.

Please contact Joyce, Pam, or Nancy to volunteer and help us keep the momentum going.

Fire destroys artists home and studio

By All IWS Info
Passing on this information from IWS member Cherry Woodbury:
CHERRY WOODBURY – My grand daughter and husband lost everything on Dec 28th when the apartment below them caught on fire and destroyed several units.   She is an artist in oils and acrylic.   All her supplies and art works were completely destroyed.   If any of you artists have oil and acrylic supplies – paints, brushes, canvas, etc – you no longer use or want please email me at idahocherry@yahoo.com or call me at 208-658-0978  and I will come and pick up.   I will ship to her so she can have some solace during this time of stress…………she can find comfort in being able to paint during the hard recovery months ahead.  Thank you so much.
