Membership Renewal News for 2027 – Additional Information

By Membership

Dear Members,

**To renew your membership, go to the Idaho Watercolor Society website. Please note, you must login to your account in order to renew your membership for the upcoming year.

Your login will be your email. If you cannot remember your password, you can opt to reset it.

To reset your password, select the “Log In” menu option at the top and on this page will be a “Forgot Password” option. Select it and follow the prompts.

After you have logged in, select “JoinIWS”. Under this menu will be the option, “Renew My Membership”. Select it and follow the prompts. **

It is time to renew your membership for the upcoming year. The early renewal period begins Oct 1 and ends Dec 31, 2026, for 2027 membership.

The renewal fee is $55.

In addition, PAPI, Plein Air Painters of Idaho, are also renewing dues for 2027. The early renewal period for Dual Membership is also Oct 1 through Dec 31, 2026, at the current rate of $90. If you prefer to join PAPI without an IWS membership (Dual), go directly to the PAPI website.

PayPal processes payments and you do not need a PayPal account to complete your renewal. You can pay with credit or with debit card. Our decision to process all memberships online is due to all art organizations going completely online for both membership and juried and non-juried competitions. In addition, this makes the processing of renewals and new memberships more efficient and less prone to error. We appreciate your willingness to collaborate with us in this area.

If you prefer to pay for your renewal by check, again you can do this with PayPal. There is an option to do so, by selecting Pay by Check at the time you complete your membership renewal. Paying by check will delay your renewal by a week or two due to the mail and processing time.

I am looking forward to working with all of you this year as your Membership Director.

Connie Pepper currently has abstract and realistic paintings on display in the Magic Valley Arts Council’s Full Moon Gallery in Twin Falls.  The show is on display through October 30.  Using the theme “Touched by Fire” and “Waterworld”, Connie’s paintings use dark and vibrant watercolors to depict the chaos and destruction that comes when touched fire.  The second theme, Waterworld, her paintings show the beauty of rain and rivers, and the serenity and calm that can be associated with water.   To see the exhibit, visit the second floor at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts. The Gallery is open Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00. p.m.

–

Also, Connie Pepper, along with Laura Stewart, will be teaching a “Mindful Abstract Painting Workshop” on November 14, from 10:00 until noon at Magic Valley Arts Council’s classroom. This class is designed to lower art anxiety and create a positive experience in making art.  Laura will walk students through a mindful way to start, move through, and finish a creative piece of art with joy instead of painting stress.  Connie will use a guided watercolor painting process to create small works of art.  Students will be using paper, tape, watercolors, a variety of mark making tools and techniques. The hope is that students will take the techniques home and expand their skills with watercolor to create art.

IWS and the Patriots Arts Foundation

By All IWS Info

Throughout its over 45-year history, the Idaho Watercolor Society has supported and promoted water media art in Idaho. Education in water media art has been a core service provided by the organization, mainly through workshops, classes, critiques, and scholarships. In 2026, IWS expanded its educational outreach by partnering with the Patriot Art Foundation (PAF). The PAF is a not-for-profit, nation-wide organization that works with Veteran Administration hospitals around the country, providing art supplies and teaching online art classes to military veterans. It has been clinically proven that creating art can be therapeutic in the lives of men and women who have or are experiencing challenges in life including emotional trauma. Teaching these classes is a unique way for IWS to continue its legacy of educating members of our communities in the water media arts as well as providing a useful service to our country’s veterans.

Working directly with the Boise Veterans Administration Hospital, IWS members Lynn McConnell, Gail Greco, and Larry Boyd organized a curriculum and delivered a series of online watercolor classes over a six-week period earlier this year. We covered the color wheel, properties of watercolor paint, application techniques, value and composition. Eight veterans participated in the classes and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. We are currently preparing to deliver a second series of classes beginning in October. Many of the veterans in our first series have indicated that they would like to take the class again.

Lynn, Gail and Larry all agree that delivering the training and meeting and interacting with the veterans was rewarding and enjoyable. As with any new experience, there were things to learn, and the online teaching was an especially interesting challenge. The IWS team is looking forward to delivering the next series of classes. There seems to be a strong interest from the Patriot Art Foundation and the Idaho Veterans Administration for IWS to offer more of this training in the future. We are hopeful that other IWS members will become interested in joining our team. Also, if you have any unused water media supplies, especially quality watercolor paper, that you would be willing to donate, that would be helpful. While the PAF provides basic materials to the veterans for the classes, the veterans would benefit from a broader selection of materials and supplies. If you are interested in helping with delivering the classes, donating materials, or just want more information, contact Lynn McConnell at mcconnell1106@gmail.com.
